This most recent collection does not mislead (well, unless you count the inclusion of the recent "A Little Less Conversation" remix - bringing the total hits to 31). From "Hound Dog" to "In The Ghetto" this collection captures the lean soul and bloated grandeur of the King. There is not a bad track on this album.

When Elvis Presley appeared on the Steve Allen show to perform "Hound Dog" shortly after his controversial Milton Berle appearance (you know, for his hips), Allen dressed Presley in a tuxedo with tails and had him sing to a top-hat-wearing hound dog. Allen always insisted that the entire spoof was in good-natured fun and that Elvis enjoyed the gag.
One of the songs that is forever tied to the rise of rock & roll is Elvis Presley's version of "Hound Dog." Originally written by Jerry Lieber and Mike Stoller for rhythm & blues singer Willie Mae "Big Mama" Thornton, the tune in its original incarnation was a modified rhumba, fueled on the original recording by an extended guitar solo from Pete Lewis.
