Necrophobic seems to run the gamut of metal in this album, creating a dark, melodic, yet crushing blend of death, black, and thrash metal. Bloodhymns features scathing vocals, driving guitars and one hefty rhythm section, oh and a guest appearance by Satan himself, since only the dark lord can make such driving, evil metal.
But full-length number four, Bloodhymns, is a consistently entertaining listen, this Swedish (of course) outfit offering a nice combination of melody and aggression in the blood-spurting vein of Slayer and In Flames, proving that this group, toiling since the early '90s, may be one of the metal underground's overlooked talents.
"Bloodhymns" is the 4th full-length studio album by Swedish melodic black/death metal act Necrophobic. The album was released through Hammerheart Records in March Johan Bergebäck has replaced Martin Halfdan as the band´s new guitarist but other than that there have been no lineup changes since the last album.
There are two bands named Necrophobic. 1) A blackened death metal band that was formed by David Parland and Joakim Sterner in Stockholm, Sweden in The name was taken from a Slayer song.
